September 21 & 22 Trench Knife: Bladesmithing Intensive

September 21st & 22nd 10:30AM - 9PM

In this two day Intensive you will get to make your own version of the trench knife that Mark and Jess made on their episode of Forged in Fire.

The trench knife was first used during WWI for use in close combat. This is a larger tougher version of the original.

We will be starting with a 2” x ¼” piece of 5160 and taking you all the way to a finished, sharpened blade.

This is a pretty serious knife so we highly recommend having taken at least 2 Introduction to Bladesmithing classes and Knife Grinding 100s (or 4 Introduction to Knife Grinding Classes) before attempting this blade .

Please arrive for your class at least thirty minutes before the scheduled start time. Wear non flammable (high cotton content) long sleeved shirt and long pants and closed toe shoes. We will be doing some grinding so bring a respirator if you have one.

Bring plenty of water, snacks and be sure to eat a hearty meal before class. We will have a 1 ½ hour lunch break each day. Lunch is not provided. Please bring a lunch from home or plan to eat at one of the many local restaurants near the shop. We plan this to be an 18 hour class, however that time will vary based on the speed of the group.
