November Bronze Ring: Introduction to Lost Wax Casting

150.00

November 7th and 14th, 5pm-9pm

In this two session class we will be going over some of the basics of the lost wax casting process.  We will start with a wax ring blank which will then be sized and carved, invested and cast using the vacuum assisted casting process.  We will then go through fettling, patina, and finish. Each student will leave with a ring of their own creation.

No prior experience is required for this class.

Please wear comfortable, but workshop appropriate clothing.  We will be doing a lot of messy benchwork. Be sure to eat a hearty meal before class, and bring a snack if you need to. Be sure to bring water to drink during class.

While it is unlikely to occur, please understand that lost wax casting has some potential risks for mold failure during casting which would leave you without a final product. If this were to happen, we will provide you with another piece of wax which you will carve the second evening of class and we will arrange a time for you to cast and finish the new ring.
